Williamson is Inuit, born in Greenland in 1954. She has a Master’s degree in Education, and has written on the Inuit relationship to the land and the implications of the education of Inuit children. She speaks Greenland Inuktitut, Danish, and English. She currently teaches at the University of Saskatchewan, specializing in cross-cultural education issues. Williamson has given numerous lectures nationally and internationally, and is the editor of the Journal of Indigenous Studies. She lives in Saskatoon with her husband and two children.
