Kate Ramsey is a Ph.D. candidate in Anthropology at Columbia University and holds an M.A. in Performance Studies from New York University. She was Associate Director of the multidisciplinary arts collective Pepatián from 1992 to 1996. Her work has appeared in the anthology Meaning in Motion: New Cultural Studies of Dance, edited by Jane C. Desmond (1997); Women & Performance: A Journal of Feminist Theory; and the Village Voice, among other publications. She is the author of The Making of a Mosaic: An Introduction to the Music and Dance of the Americas (1992). Her dissertation studies the construction of "superstition" through law and performance in late-nineteenth to mid-twentieth-century Haiti. Contributor to: |
