Ken McGoogan, formerly books editor at the Calgary Herald, has published six books in the past decade. His latest is Fatal Passage: The Untold Story of John Rae, the Arctic Adventurer Who Discovered the Fate of Franklin (HarperCollins 2001), which he researched in Cambridge, Orkney and the Canadian Arctic. Previous books include the award-winning Canada's Undeclared War: Fighting Words from the Literary Trenches (Detselig 1991) and several novels, including Kerouac's Ghost (Robert Davies 1996), which was translated into French.
