Mike MacDonald was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1941. He has been an active video producer since 1979 when he started to screen his work across Canada to such audiences as the Nuclear Free Pacific Conference held in Honolulu and the Federal Environment Minister, John Roberts, in 1981. His work has been exhibited across Canada and in the United States and Europe, including the Audio Visueel Experimenteel festival in Arnheim, Netherlands, and Indigena at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. He is well known for Electronic Totem, which has been exhibited extensively, including Video In and the Vancouver Art Gallery, and for his work, Seven Sisters, which was shown at the Grierson Festival in Toronto. He moved to Vancouver, where he currently lives, in 1977.
