Louise Bernice Halfe, Sky Dancer, was born in Two Hills, Alberta, and was raised on the Saddle Lake First Nations Reserve. Her first book of poetry, Bear Bones & Feathers (Coteau 1994), was shortlisted for the Spirit of Saskatchewan Award, the Saskatchewan First Book Award, the League of Canadian Poets Gerald Lampert Memorial Award and Pat Lowther Memorial Award. In 1996 the book won The Milton Acorn People's Poetry Award. Halfe's second book, Blue Marrow (McClelland & Stewart 1998), was shortlisted for numerous awards, including the Governor General's Literary Award for poetry. Contributor to: Publications: |
