George Baird is an architect and architectural theorist who has been working in Canada, the United States and Europe since 1968. He is a partner in the Toronto firm of Baird/Sampson Architects which has recently completed Toronto’s award-winning Bay Adelaide Park. Baird is Professor of Architecture at Harvard University, the co-editor with Charles Jencks of Meaning in Architecture, 1969, and author of Alvar Aalto, 1970, and The Space of Appearance, 1994. He has taught at other major institutions in Canada, Europe and the United States and lectured extensively throughout the world. His critical and theoretical writings have appeared in many journals.
